The national football team of Moldova will play three exhibition matches the next three weeks. The first encounter, against Saudi Arabia, takes place in Spain on May 24, IPN reports.
The ‘tricolors’ will travel to Spain on May 22, along the Chisinau – Munich – Malaga route. The friendly will be played in Jerez in southern Spain. Afterward, the team trained by Ion Caras will go to Austria to meet the national squad of Canada on May 27.
“We will make effort to show a good play and to obtain the best result possible. We will think about points in the qualifying rounds. The game is now more important,” said halfback Alexandru Gatcan, who was named the best Moldovan footballer last year.
“The teams of Saudi Arabia and Canada are powerful, but can be beaten. We will do our utmost to show to them that we are a force, a united team that struggles on the field,” said Artur Ionita, who will play for Hellas Verona from June 1.
After the friendly against Canada, the national team of Moldova will return home. On June 7, they will meet the squad of Cameroon, which qualified for the World Championship. For the team of Samuel Eto`o, it will be the last test before the final competition in Brazil.
