The national football team of Moldova takes the 108th spot in the FIFA rankings released on March 13. It slipped one spot from February even if it beat Andorra 3-0 in a friendly, IPN reports.
Ion Caras’s team is outstripped by Bahrain, Zimbabwe, Angola and Benin. Moldova will play the next friendly most probably in May. The Moldovan Football Federation is holding discussions with Saudi Arabia on the issue.
Among Moldova’s opponents in the EURO 2016 preliminaries, the best ranked is Russia – 19th. Sweden ranks 27th, while Austria – 44th. Montenegro, Moldova’s first rival in the preliminaries, takes the 46th place, while Liechtenstein is the 151st.
The rankings are topped by Spain, followed by Germany and Argentina.
