The national football squad of Moldova played three friendly matches in the United Arab Emirates and suffered as many defeats. After being beaten by Norway 1-2 and by Sweden 1-2, the team trained by Ion Caras lost to Poland by 0-1, IPN reports.
The only goal was scored by striker Pawel Brozek in the 10th minute. The Polish players had several more occasions for scoring, but were thwarted by goalkeeper Ilie Cebanu in their attempts.
Thus, Poland managed to take revenge for the 1-1 draw scored in Chisinau last summer.
“It is very hard to play three matches in six days. It was exhausting especially for the defense. That’s why Poland defeated us. In general, I do not have what to reproach my pupils for. As a result of these matches, we decided who should remain in the national team,” Moldova manager Ion Caras said after the game.
The next friendly Moldova will play against Andorra away on March 5.
