The national football team of Moldova started to train for the UEFA Nations League matches against Luxemburg, of September 8, and against Belarus, of September 11, IPN reports.
The halfback of Sibir Eugeniu Cebotaru could not join in the training owing to injury. The leading players Alexandru Epureanu, Artur Ioniță and Alexandru Gațcan are present.
“The Nations League offers the chance to reach the European Championship. There can be no other bigger motivation,” Moldova manager Alexandru Spiridon told a news conference.
Moldova will make its debut in the UEFA Nations League on September 8 when it plays away Luxemburg. On September 11 Moldova meets Belarus in Chisinau. San Marino also plays in Moldova’s group. The group winner qualifies for the semifinals. Only the champion reaches the UEFA Euro 2020.
