Afterward, the two teams dueled in the qualifying rounds of the 2010 World Championship, with both of the games ending in a 0-0 draw.
For the team trained by Alexandru Curteian, the match against Luxemburg will be a test before the encounter with Liechtenstein, of the 2016 European Championship qualifying rounds. The game against Liechtenstein will be played away on June 14.
