The National Employers Confederation of Moldova will consult its members about problems related to environmental protection and their obligations in the ecological sector. The knowledge needed for consulting the members are obtained through a series of training seminars staged within the EU-funded East Invest 2 Project, implemented by Eurochambres based on the Moldovan-German Cooperation Agreement (National Employers Confutation of Moldova - SEQUA gGmbH and Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The Confederation’s staff took part in two of such seminars already.
Contacted by IPN, the Confederation’s executive director Vlad Caminschi said the Moldova – EU Association Agreement contains a large chapter about the environments. The Republic of Moldova pledged to transpose the EU environmental directives and these directives are closed connected with the business community that should respect these provisions and apply them daily.
The executive director noted that the representatives of the business community, members of the National Employers Confederation, are to be informed about the obligations to assess the impact of the activities performed by the enterprise on the environment and to carry out the ecological assessment and an ecological audit. Among other subjects addressed is the ecologic inspection at enterprises, especially the types of such inspections, and the procedure for challenging the results of these inspections by business entities.
Vlad Caminschi said that by providing consultative services to its members, the National Employers Confederation of Moldova will contribute to the transition from a post-Socialist legislation on environment to the European legislation. The Confederation will ensure the simplification of this process because it is difficult sometimes. “For these reasons, we decided to inform ourselves more about the legislation and the provisions on environment, the obligations of the business community and the responsibility that this bears if the obligations are not fulfilled, and to support the Confederation’s members,” he stated.
The National Employers Confederation of Moldova considers it is now opportune to implement a service in the field of environmental protection for business entities. At the end of the seminars, the aspects and areas of intervention that could be included in the new service of the Confederation are to be clearly delimited.
