The National Employers Confederation of Moldova during two decades has worked to promote the interests and develop entrepreneurship in the country, the organizes and invitees to the festivity staged on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Confederation’s foundation at the Palace of the Republic agreed, IPN reports.
The Confederation’s head Leonid Cerescu said the creation of the National Employers Confederation was determined by the appearance of a new constitutional order in Moldova – the market economy.
“The enterprises whose interests must be safeguarded are the active participants in the market economy. I thank the five employers associations that founded the Confederation. The founders were confident that with the development of the market economy and the establishment of the rule of law, the Confederation’s role will be more important. Time showed that the principles laid at the basis of the Confederation were correct. I think our experience not to become involved politically and to focus on the interests of enterprises can serve as an example for other employers organizations,” stated Cerescu.
“In the period, many things, owing to the lack of experience, were done intuitively. But in time the Confederation became a force able to take assume responsibility for working out and implementing state strategies and programs for developing the country.”
Leonid Cerescu noted that considerable effort was made during 20 years to strengthen the employers movement and a representative body at the national and international levels. “The Confederation’s credibility in front of the businesspeople increased. In 1997, the Confederation became a member of the International Organization of Employers and cooperates actively with the International Labor Organization and other international partners. A lot was done, but much more things are yet to be done,” he said.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip underlined the Confederation’s role in facilitating the cooperation between the business community and the state authorities based on the existing consultation platforms and its role of social partner in the dialogue with the Government, which enables to permanently update the policies drafted by the executive. “This dialogue must generate solutions to the existing problems and the predictability required by the businesses community. The Confederation during 20 years showed that it is a reliable dialog partner. It is indeed the most representative body of the employers in Moldova,” he said.
The Premier also spoke about the Confederation’s contribution to creating working conditions for business entities such as the institution of the moratorium on state inspections, reduction in the number of authorizing documents and creation of the one-stop shop for issuing these, reformation of the inspection bodies and optimization of reporting procedures.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola noted the Confederation’s role in redefining the labor relations, in accordance with the new economic conditions. “The path chosen by Moldova envisions the harmonization of the legislation and working practices of enterprises to the European standards. I think the Confederation’s contribution in this regard will be substantial as its members expect for entering the European market,” he stated.
The National Employers Confederation of Moldova has 21 members, 15 of which are employers federations and associations that represent over 5 000 enterprises with about 450 000 employees.
