The national economy remains a net debtor to the "Rest of the World." At the end of the third quarter of last year, the financial value of the national economy stood at -90.9 billion lei. However, this shows an improvement compared to the value of -96.4 billion lei recorded on December 31, 2023, IPN reports.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the change in the third quarter was due to a more significant increase in the stock of assets (+7.3% compared to the end of 2023), compared to liabilities (+5.9%).
The household sector continues to be the net creditor of the national economy, while the non-financial corporate sector, the financial sector, and the public administration sector remain, as in previous periods, net debtors.
The ratio between the net financial value of the national economy recorded at the end of the third quarter of 2024 and the Gross Domestic Product increased by 3.4 percentage points compared to December 31, 2023, reaching -28.7%.
