FC Costuleni officially withdrew from the National Division. The Competitions Committee of the Moldovan Football Federation accepted the request of the administration of the Ungheni club to withdraw from the championship, IPN reports.
“We cannot impose a team to play. I asked if there is a possibility of continuing and the answer was negative,” the head of the Competitions Committee Ghenadie Lysyi told a news conference.
FC Costuleni will be able to return to Moldova’s championship only after three seasons and will start from Division B. “The players are free from contract. I will help some of them to find other teams in Moldova,” said the president of FC Costuleni Andrei Grigor.
Ten teams remained in the National Division. After the withdrawal of FC Costuleni, all the teams lost the points accumulated in the matches played against the team trained by Laurentiu Tudor. Costuleni was to play a game against champion Sheriff in Tiraspol on November 22.
