National Diabetes Center could be set up in Chisinau

A National Diabetes Center could be created in Chisinau. The issue was discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a meeting with the chairman of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) European Region Şehnaz Karadeniz, who paid his first visit to Moldova, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Premier said that they count on the assistance of the International Diabetes Federation in creating such a center in Chisinau. According to him, this will ensure the whole process of specialized assistance, diagnosis, treatment and provision of the necessary support to diabetics.

For his part, Şehnaz Karadeniz confirmed the IDF’s readiness to support the implementation of this important project in Moldova, noting that the prevention and control of sugar diabetes must be a key goal.

The interlocutors also discussed the implementation of a number of strategies for preventing diabetes and measures to support the diabetics in Moldova. They conferred on the National Diabetes Control Program for 2017 that is to be worked out by the Ministry of Health in concert with expert NGOs, in accordance with the recommendations of IDF specialists and other foreign experts.
