Cenacles, exhibitions and contests will be staged all over the country on the occasion of the National Culture Day that is annually celebrated on January 15. The program of cultural activities organized by the Ministry of Culture also includes creation workshops and plays to render homage to bard Mihai Eminescu, IPN reports.

“Culture is the objective not only of the Ministry of Culture, museum directors and heads of culture divisions. This is everyone’s preoccupation. If there is no culture, there is nothing,” Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said in a news conference.

The minister noted that the celebration of the National Culture Day started on January 12, when a contest and exhibition of contemporary art “Eminesciana 2017” was opened at the Gallery “Constantin Brancusi”. This will continue until January 29.

Images of the Art Collections and Maps Service will be exhibited at the National Library under the theme “National costume as a property and spiritual value” on January 15. The National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” will host the exhibition “Culture is the art elevated to a set of beliefs”, the creation workshop “Eminescu’s poems in images”, the online contest “Know your personality” and other events.

The same day, the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”,  the Theater “Alexei Mateevici” and the Balti Theater “Vasile Alecsandri” will put on plays to render homage to Mihai Eminescu.

Exhibitions of photos of personalities of the national culture that belong to the National Museum of History of Moldova will be mounted during January 16 - February 13.

The National Culture Day was instituted in April 2012 in a move to promote the national culture, authentic cultural values and artistic personalities from the field of culture.
