National Council for Participation agrees priorities for next years

The National Council for Participation Tuesday presented its priorities for 2010-2012. “The improved cooperation with the Council will produce better results and provide advantages for the whole society,” said the Council's chairman Sorin Mereacre. The priorities have been classified into six categories, namely: ensuring good governance by making the legal system really independent; reducing the human factor in the relations between the state and the people; observing the human rights and fundamental freedoms; ensuring economic development by improving the business environment; environment protection; reformation of the education system, healthcare and social protection. A separate chapter concerns the Transnistrian region and envisions measures aimed at involving the civil society in different national processes, Info-Prim Neo reports. The national plan of action for implementing the strategy for developing the civil society that was presented at the meeting contains other measures that will contribute to the development of the NGO sector, including the improvement of the mechanisms for providing grants to noncommercial organizations, formulation of proposals for institutionalizing social entrepreneurship, etc. Cezar Gavriliuc, of the Child Rights Information and Documentation Center, expressed his optimism that the set objectives will be achieved and the national plan of action for implementing the strategy for developing the civil society will be carried out. “The Government regards the civil society as a partner. The creation of the National Council for Participation shows that the opinion of the civil society is taken into account,” Cezar Gavriliuc said. The National Council for Participation was set up on February 2, 2010.
