The 4th National Congress of Romanian Historians will be held on August 27 and 28 in Chisinau, and then, from August 29 to 31, it will continue in Suceava. According to the organizers, the event aims to open new opportunities for communication between established Romanian historiographers and researchers interested in innovative approaches.

The organizers of the Congress are the State University of Moldova, the University of Suceava, the Romanian Academy and the National Committee of Romanian Historians. The agenda includes lectures in the plenary sitting, panel-based paper presentations, debates on major subjects, and book launches.

“The Congress offers the opportunity to debate the status of history in school and university curricula, providing an excellent opportunity for specialists to approach new strategies, methods and instruments that a teacher can use in teaching history”, said the State University of Moldova.

About 500 participants from Moldova, Romania and abroad are expected at the congress. This includes teachers, researchers and PhD students from the most important university centers and research institutes, as well as specialists in the field of history from prestigious institutions such as the Romanian Academy, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the National Archives, the Diplomatic Archives, the National Military Archives of Romania, the National History Museum of Moldova, the National Museum of Bucovina etc.

Organization and financing partners include the Romanian Government’s Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Education of Romania, the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, and the Chisinau-based Romanian Cultural Institute.

On August 28, a photography exhibition by Martin Rill will open at the Republic Palace. The event is financed by DRRM, being organized by the "Astra" Library from Sibiu and USM. At USM, this exhibition will later join the exhibition of national costumes organized in partnership with the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.
