The deadline for payment of land tax could be extended by 15 days, that is until November 1. The Government announced it would submit to Parliament a draft law in this respect. According to the governmental press service, the initiative belongs to the National Committee for Emergency Situations, which formulated and submitted to the Government a package of special measures intended to offset the negative effects of the drought upon the farmers. To compensate the expenses for electricity used to pump water for irrigation, the Government suggests augmenting the Fund for support to the agricultural sector by 10 million lei. Overall, the Fund for this year could rise by 350 million lei. To ensure the farmers with current assets, the Government promises to refund without delay the value added tax on purchases of fertilisers and on shipments of agri-products on the territory of the country.
