The national men’s Under 21 basketball team of Moldova for the first time will take part in the European Championship, Division B. The tournament will take place in Hungary in summer and Moldova will play against Hungary, Slovakia and Albania, IPN reports.
“It is a novelty for our basketball players. There is a different level of basketball at this tournament. To be able to play in Division B, we refused to take part in the European Championship for poorly developed countries,” the president of the Moldovan Basketball Federation Octavian Vucol stated for a TV channel.
The national seniors teams of Moldova will also have serious matches in 2015. Both the women’s and the men’s teams will take part in international tournaments. The men’s squad will have a training session before the qualifying competition of the 2017 European Championship.
