National Bank to issue 5 jubilee and commemorative coins

Moldova’s National Bank this year will issue 5 jubilee and commemorative coins, the Government decided on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Thus, on the occasion of declaring the year of the Cantemir dynasty, two coins from “Personalities” series are to be issued: the coin “Dimitrie Cantemir – 335 years” and the coin “Antioh Cantemir – 300 years”. A new series of jubilee and commemorative coins will be launched – “Moldova’s Monuments”, aimed at promoting Moldova’s historical, architectural, cultural and natural heritage. The first coin will be “Stefan’s the Great oak-tree”, which is as old as over 800 years and is under the state’s protection. The series “Holidays, culture, traditions” will be added the coin “Cask-making” which will depict the centuries-old tradition of making barrels. While the series “Moldova’s Red Book” will be added the coin “The White Water Lily” a plant rarely met in Moldova. The coins can either be used for payments or can be collected by numismatists.
