National Bank of Moldova to issue seven jubilee and commemorative coins

The list of jubilee and commemorative coins that will be issued by the National Bank of Moldova in 2015 was approved in the April 15 meeting of the Government. It includes seven coins, IPN reports.

The series “Personalities” will be extended by two coins dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of poet Grigore Vieru and the 100th anniversary of the birth of theater and film actor Constantin Constantinov.

The series “Alley of Classical Writers” will include a new silver coin dedicated to Constantin Stere.

The series “Holy Places” will now contain a new silver coin that represents a historical and architectural monument of special importance for the national heritage – the wooden church “Assumption of the Mother of God” of the Chisinau Village Museum.

There will also be inaugurated the series “Famous Women”. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of late Prima Donna of the National Opera House Maria Biesu, silver coins will be issued dedicated to the soprano.

Another new series is “Lordly Mansions” that will include historical, architectural and cultural monuments protected by the state. The first coins of this series will represent the mansion with a dendrological park “A.I. Pommer”, located in Taul village of Donduseni district.

The series of coins “Red Book of the Republic of Moldova” will be supplemented with a coin that represents the marsh turtle.

In 1996-2014 the National Bank of Moldova issued 114 jubilee and commemorative coins with different nominal values and themes.
