National Army sappers disarm 55 WWII bombs

National Army sappers have disarmed 55 explosive objects that remained in the ground since the World War II. The bombshells have been found in Valcele village, Cantemir district.
The communiqué of the Department of Public Relations of the Ministry of Protection mentions that the sappers were invited by the village inhabitants who found 20 explosive objects with an unknown origin. Research has shown that these were artillery bombshells of 122 mm. The sappers discovered there another 35 shells with the same calibre.
According to military experts, the soviet production arsenal remained in the ground since the World War II and represents a danger for the population in case of a physical or natural pressure on the objects.
According to Colonel Igor Cutie, chief J3, Great Major State of the National Army, the military sappers have found and neutralized 450 explosive objects in nine months of this year. About 95% of them date back to the World War II.
