The National Army of the Republic of Moldova on September 3 celebrates 27 years of its foundation. On this occasion, President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Pavel Filip transmitted congratulatory messages, IPN reports.
President Dodon expressed his consideration for all those who founded and developed the Army, which is an indispensable element of the statehood and security of the Republic of Moldova. He noted that as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, he will continue to constantly and consistently support the modernization and equipment of the National Army and the implementation of the agenda to improve the living and working conditions of soldiers.
According to him, all efforts should be aimed at ensuring the country’s security, increasing the defense level and promoting a qualitative jump to the professionalization of the Army and optimization of its work. “I want to express my conviction that the National Army, by the effort of each service member, in the future too will contribute to strengthening the statehood of the Republic of Moldova and to the military-patriotic education of the young people,” it is said in the press release issued by the presidential press service.
For his part, Pavel Filip says the National Army Day is an occasion for expressing gratitude to the service members for their sense of duty, professionalism and abnegation they show when they defend the peace and order or when they take part in activities to deal with natural disasters. The Government is near the Army and will support the effort to transform this into a professional one.
According to the Government’s press service, the National Army will become a European, professional and better trained and more disciplined one and will increase its capacities to take part in international peacekeeping efforts and to widely apply civil and democratic control instruments in the national security sector.
The National Army was created on September 3, 1991 based on a decree signed by the first President of the Republic of Moldova Mircea Snegur.
