The deputy president of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Natalia Gavrilița said that in the absence of a parliamentary majority that would support the Government’s initiatives, the voting in of a minority executive will only extend the current political agony. Moreover, the PAS considers the crisis can be overcome by two ways: the second attempt to vote in the Government fails again or there is held a referendum, IPN reports.

Natalia Gavrilița said her party does not support the idea of having a minority Government led by Andrei Năstase as the voting in of a Government will delay the snap elections.

“I do not see how a minority government, without a majority support in Parliament, can ensure the solving of people’s problems. We know from the experience of the Sandu Government that when particular progress is made to clean the state institutions, the MPs affected by that progress made in fighting corruption come with no-confidence motions. We will only extend the agony for a month or two,” Natalia Gavrilița stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on Tv8 channel.

She noted the President is not afraid of impeachment and is ready for a referendum.

“The failure to vote in the candidate nominated as Prime Minister is a path. Or we should hold a referendum. Missis President Sandu is ready for a referendum. Are the political parties ready for such an exercise? The President promised a change to the people and we believe this change should be made now,” stated Natalia Gavrilița.

She didn’t say if President Maia Sandu will initiate consultations with the parliamentary parties, as the Constitutional Court recommended.

“It is clear that there is no stable majority in Parliament that could govern in times of crisis for the people’s benefit. They are now holdings discussions in Parliament. This means the parties also do not have a solution that would be proposed to President Sandu,” said Natalia Gavrilița.

Natalia Gavrilița was the first candidate designated by President Maia Sandu as Prime Minister. On the first attempt to vote in the Gavrilița Government, the candidate didn’t obtain any vote in Parliament. After the Constitutional Court declared the President’s decree to nominate again Natalia Gavrilița as Prime Minister unconstitutional, President Maia Sandu said the citizens will be those who will decide their future at snap elections or at a referendum. She avoided saying if she will comply with the CC judgment and will initiate consultations with the parliamentary groups.
