The localities in the security zone can be connected to Moldovagaz’s network within three months. The design works started and a document in this regard will be submitted on Friday to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER), the interim head of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban announced in the program "Resumé" on RliveTV. He noted that the works to connect the localities to Moldovagaz’s network are complex, include the crossing of the Nistru River and can be carried out only by Romanian companies, IPN reports.

According to a decision by the Commission for Emergency Situations, the villages of Pohrebea, Coșnița, Pîrîta, Doroțcaia, Molovata Nouă, Roghi, Cocieri, Corjova and Vasilievca, in Dubăsari district, Hîrbovăț and Varnița in Anenii Noi district, Fîrlădeni, Hagimus and Copanca in Căușeni district will be connected to the natural gas networks of the distribution operators of Moldovagaz. The interim head of the company says that the process is complex one and the works will be completed not earlier than in three months.

"As a rule, such projects last from sixth to nine months. But we are now in an exceptional situation and I think that in a maximum of three months we can connect these localities. My colleagues are already working there and the design works began. For the localities in the security zone, complex works need to be carried out because the Nistru River has to be crossed, and these works are carried out only by specialized companies. Currently, in the region, there are only companies in Romania that execute such works," said Vadim Ceban.

Ge also said that the dialogue with the Russian company Gazprom is now limited only to operational aspects, while strategic decisions related to gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova have a political motivation behind.

"At the operational level, we have communication with Gazprom, but I don't think decisions are taken at Gazprom. The situation already went beyond the competences of both Moldovagaz and Gazprom. I think it is a political situation, although the arguments invoked by Gazprom are commercial in character," stated Vadim Ceban.

On January 1, 2025, Gazprom completely stopped gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the citizens of the Transnistrian region were left without heat and hot water. The Kuchurgan power plant produces coal-based electricity and, in order to save resources on the left bank of the Nistru, the power supply is turned off during particular periods.
