The first edition of the contest “My Romania” was kicked off. Its goal is to promote Romania in the Republic of Moldova by using a plastic image. The competition is open to children and young people from the Republic of Moldova, secondary school and lyceum students, first- and second-year university students, the Romania Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau has said.
Young people’s works will be used as a visual identity element by the Embassy of Romania at a number of institutions affiliated to it. The theme of this year’s contest is “My Romania”. The contenders will compete in four age categories: 11-13; 14-15; 16-17; 18-19. Each participant can contend with an original painting, graphic work, collage or drawing in coal, oil, gouache, pencil, markets and others of minimum A5 and maximum A4 size.
The contest encourages creativity and originality. The works that do not meet these criteria or break the law on copyright will not be accepted. The work must contain the author’s name and age and the date when it was made and must be sent to concurs.fapd@upsc.md. The jury will designate by a winner in each age category.
The most original 20 works, approximately five in each age category, will be presented at an exhibition at the Embassy of Romania in Moldova. The exhibition will be mounted on December 1-31, 2023. The winners of the contest will be awarded by €250 for the first three age categories and €500 for the 18-19 age category.
The jury will include a cultural specialist/expert from Romania and another one from Moldova, Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova, the director of the Romania Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau and the art director of an advertising agency. The assessment will be conducted online and no additional costs will be incurred.
The contest is staged by the Romania Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau and the Faculty of Plastic Arts and Design of the Teacher Training University “Ion Creangă”.
