A working group of the Chisinau City Hall will come together for a meeting to analyze the road traffic situation and identify solutions to diminish the number of traffic accidents. Representatives of the General Public Transport and Communications Division will draw up a map of the most dangerous areas where a large number of road accidents occur. Such instructions were given by Mayor General Ion Ceban in the May 18 meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

Ion Ceban said that if need be, they will resort to smart traffic surveillance in the city so that the competent bodies could intervene before road accidents. Where it is necessary, speed limit signs and smart traffic lights will be set up and the surveillance cameras will be increased in number. “The city is not a place for car races. It is a place for the people and the rules and measures in this regard should be strict and harsh,” noted the mayor.

A serious road accident that involved several vehicles occurred on Ștefan cel Mare Blvd in Chisinau on May 18 following an illegal rally. The driver of an Audi car, when competing with another car, crashed violently in a cab traveling legally at the intersection with Ismail St and then into another car. Two persons, the cab driver and his passenger, died on the spot, while another four persons were rushed to the hospital.
