Municipality to grant 200 merit scholarships on City Day

Chisinau local authorities plan to grant 200 merit scholarships from the local budget this year as well. According to the head of the Culture Department, Leonid Gorceac, the City Hall began granting merit scholarships in 1996. During 10 years the financial resources were collected within the festival “The Businessman of the Year”. Last year the contest didn’t take place and the City Hall had to allocate funds from the local budget. Merit scholarships are awarded to the best 180 pupils and students from Chisinau, as well as for 20 personalities of elder age. The scholarships consist of 1000 lei each and outlaid last year’s budget for 200 thousand lei. The merit scholarships will be awarded during the celebrations dedicated to the City Day.
