Municipality to double expenses for territory sanitation services

The municipality will pay this year twice for the territory sanitation services provided by the Roads and Bridges Management “Exdrupo”. The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) approved at Thursday’s sitting a draft decision on a double increase in prices on the services provided by this enterprise. Interim chairman of Transport Alexei Varlan told Info-Prim Neo that the works performed by “Exdrupo” will be entirely covered by municipal budget and these are not related to the dwelling-communal activity in the municipality. The management caries out works of refitting the streets and pavements, underground passages, pluvial sewerages, washing and sweeping the carriage roads, scattering anti-skid material and removing snow from roadways etc. The increase in prices for the services was triggered by the increase in price of fuel and spare parts, as well as by the need to adjust the remuneration of the enterprise’s workers. It was also found that the last year unbalanced prices led to a loss of 120,000 lei when providing services of mechanised sanitation. Alexei Varlan mentioned that last year the services provided by “Exdrupo” were financed by the local budget, covering about 10 mln lei. Some 7.5 mln lei are planned in the budget for this year. The head of municipal transports mentioned that, as a result of the price adjustments, the transport Division will request CMC during the year to allocate additional financial resources for paying the sanitation services. In case the Council does not supplement the allocations for the city’s sanitation, the Authority will be forced to perform a smaller volume of works as against last year.
