Municipality to auction spaces above subways

The Municipality will auction licenses to administrate commercial spaces above subways. Companies that will obtain the right to erect structures in those spaces will required to cover the subway stairs and to keep the area clean. Adrian Boldurescu, head of the municipal division for public transport and roads that administrates the spaces in question, told Info-Prim Neo that this practice is spread in other cities as well. The subways need special care in winter, when the snow must be cleared often. As the city lacks the funds to hire workers for such works, the decision was taken to offer the right to erect structures in the area. The constructions must have strictly a social destination. The projects must also include the installation of roofs over the stairs of the passage entrance. As regards the technical project and the safety of the constructions, the responsibility lies with the authorities responsible for design, informed Adrian Boldurescu.
