The local authorities in Chisinau encourage proposals from businesses that are willing to build mansard roofs on top of residential blocks in the city.
Chisinau’s chief architect Vladimir Modarca stated at Monday’s City Hall meeting that there are no impediments of legal or normative nature that would prevent businesses from starting a project of this kind. The municipal official explained that there are at least two decisions of the City Council as well as the newly adopted Housing Law that authorise mansard roofing, on condition that two-thirds of the persons living on the upper floor give their consent to the project.
Even though the regulation on mansard roofing is yet to be defined by the city authorities in order to meet the new requirements, Modarca says the document will be complete in two weeks.
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca even suggested kicking off an information campaign in the city to set the process in motion. He pointed out that constructors are welcome to submit relevant proposals to the city authorities without delay so as to start erecting mansards by spring.
