The problem of cleanliness inside Chisinau’s minibuses and the issue related to their drivers’ conduct return to municipality’s attention. Chisinau interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan is concerned about the condition of the minibuses, insisting at the City Hall session Monday that the minibuses “be washed inside and outside”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The interim mayor also requested to shut down the music in the minibuses, and the drivers who will disobey the rules of carrying passengers will be fined. In the context, the interim mayor requested the Public Transport and Means of Communication Division (DTPCC) to strengthen the cooperation with private carriers in order to redress the situation. The interim mayor opined that, once the fare for travelling by minibuses has increased, the conditions in the private transport should be also improved. As interim head of DTPCC Alexei Varlan says, 277 trolleybuses, 104 buses and 1600 minibuses are daily operating in the municipality. Varlan also mentioned that soon a commission composed of municipal specialists and representatives of the Traffic Police will inspect the situation of the roadways in Chisinau to establish the priorities of their renovation for this year. At the same time, according to the cited source, 41 churches and territories adjacent to them were illuminated, while the access roads to all 60 churches in Chisinau will be renovated and illuminated by Easter. Inspections are also expected at the car parks in the city. Many of them are illegally operating or have their land leasing contracts expired. In consequence, the City Hall loses significant revenues. In the context of refitting the entrances to the city, the municipality has already bought the necessary traffic signs and they are to be installed this week. Concurrently, the specialised services will begin to refit Dacia Boulevard, which ensures the connection with Sangera town, and will continue with the works of refurbishing pavements in downtown Chisinau.
