In a week of the launch, the municipality of Chisinau decided to cancel the special trolleybus routes intended for students, teachers and parents with children as of September 6. In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services, acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Vitalie Mihalache said that the field analyses and checks performed last week showed that this type of service is not in demand, IPN reports.
“I want to speak about the traffic analysis and quality of the public transport services. It was determined that the dedicated transport for students is not really in demand and is less used than the passenger transport,” stated Vitalie Mihalache, announcing the decision to withdraw the student trolleybuses.
Between 06:50am and 09:00am, each fourth trolleybus on a number of routes was intended exclusively for the transportation of children to school and kindergarten. Teachers could also travel by these units of transport that were marked appropriately. The practice was tested the previous school year and was resumed on September 1.
