The municipality of Chisinau bought five sweepers and five trailers for collecting and transporting dried leaves in a mechanized way. Five multifunctional tractors are to also arrive in Chisinau. The information was presented by the head of the Public Amenities Division Ion Burdiumov in the October 29 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.
He stated that the machines cost 3.8 million lei. Until now the leaves were collected manually. About 350 trucks on average are weekly transported to the Pruncul landfill. The works will be expectedly finished this weekend. The authorities aim to set up a composting station on the territory of the landfill and to put this into operation in 2019. The compost will be used in the public gardens and parks of Chisinau.
Ion Burdiumov noted the people should not throw other waste into the piles of leaves. Some take even domestic appliances, old furniture and building materials to waste storage platforms. These face a fine as do the business entities that do not fulfil the obligation to clean up the areas in front of their offices.
