The municipality of Chisinau in 2020-2023 allocated over 37 million lei for the repair, modernization and expansion of schools in the suburban settlements. The money went to build new spaces for study, for thermal rehabilitation, to change heating systems, to extensively repair roofs, to build sports grounds and to buy equipment and furniture, IPN reports.
The Chisinau City Hall said that it fully financed the project to renovate the heating system of “Grigore Vieru” Theoretical Lyceum in Băcioi commune. The old network had been used for over six decades. Thanks to this investment, the school now makes savings on bills and the saved money is redirected to other needs.
Heating expenses were reduced also at “Grătiești” Theoretical High School, the Secondary School in Hulboaca village, “Ștefan Vodă” High School in Vadul lui Voda town, the Secondary School in Condrița village, the Secondary School in Brăila village. The buildings of these institutions were thermally rehabilitated with funds allocated by the municipality and from local budgets.
Also, the Chisinau City Hall financed the construction of the new roof at Secondary School No. 102 in Brăila village, Băcioi commune, the primary schools in Băcioi and Budești, Secondary School No. 77 and “Al. Mateevici” High School in Cricova, the Secondary School in Dobrogea village, “Gh. Madan” Secondary School in Trușeni. The installation of new roofs at these institutions solved a number of problems caused by rain and humidity.
In 2020-2023, sports grounds were built and rehabilitated in several schools in suburban settlements. The courtyards were laid out and equipped. With the financial support of the Chisinau City Hall and the local authorities, a modern stadium with sports fields for volleyball, football, basketball and a running track was built at “Dragoș Vodă” Lyceum in Stăuceni. The municipality also invested in two tennis tables, which were installed in the area and are accessible to everyone.
Among the sports grounds repaired together with local authorities of the first level are the grounds of “Ștefan Vodă” High School in Vadul lui Vodă and of the Secondary School in Dobrogea, Sângera city. The gymnasiums of “Budești” High School and “Grătiești” High School were also repaired.
The Chisinau City Hall covered the costs for paving the courtyard and purchased benches and lanterns for the courtyards of “Gr. Vieru” High School in Băcioi and the Secondary School in Brăila. The project to pave the courtyard of “Dragoș Vodă” High School was financed by the municipality and the local administration of Stăuceni.
The municipality responded to the call of the local administration of Durlești to build a block of studies at “Hyperion” High School. The Chisinau City Hall covered over 70% of the expenses for the construction of the annex with classrooms, workshops and an ultramodern gymnasium.
During these years, the Chisinau City Hall allocated funds to suburban schools for repairing classrooms, festivity halls, choreography halls, laboratories, sanitary facilities and canteens, equipping kitchens gymnasiums, adapting entrances for students with special needs.
