Municipality encourages families to take orphans to their homes for holidays and weekends

The City Division for Children’s Rights Protection encourages the persons who wish to make at least one child from a boarding school happy to take him into their family for the weekend or the holidays. According to the division head, Svetlana Chifa, in most of the cases, the consent of the establishment’s director is just enough. The person should submit an application to the administration of the school to make that happen. If needed, the applicant shall produce certificates proving his mental health and the fact that he doesn’t have a criminal record. If the boarding school’s administration delays the answer, the applicants are invited to inform the specialists of the division. Svetlana Chifa asserts that unfortunately Chisinau has a poor experience in this connection, although many persons would wish to give the children left without parental care a wonderful experience at least for the holidays. Most of these families live on modest incomes and there is almost no initiative in this sense from persons holding official positions, entrepreneurs or celebrities. More than 100 children that live in boarding schools in the capital had no place to call home for the City Day. Most of them either stayed in the institution, where they received a richer dinner than usually, or went to the city for a walk, without any pocket money to buy something they liked from the capital’s main avenue.
