The Green Areas Association of Chisinau has recorded about 1,500 calls from people who asked to remove trees and massive branches that fell onto windows, balconies or cars. The Association’s head Eliferii Haruta said the intervention is difficult owing to the shortage of workers and the lack of necessary equipment, IPN reports.

The company has seven towers and six tractors with trailer and these are used to perform works all over the city.

After the heavy snowfalls of April 20 and 21, over 1,000 electrical conductors were damaged in Chisinau. About 450 cables were broken, 124 poles were downed, while another 700 were bowed and can fall down. The lighting company “Lumteh” estimated that 11 million lei is needed to repair the networks.

About 1 million lei was spent on snow removal and antiskid material spreading works. As the special machinery is old, the road workers repaired a part of this for three times a night.

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said teams of service members and personnel are set up in each district of the city to deal with the consequences of the natural disaster. A call was made to the inhabitants of Chisinau to gather the branches that fell down in yards and to store them near streets. Units of transport will be provided for collecting these on April 28 and 29. The wood is transported to a storehouse that was improvised at the National Stadium.
