Municipality awards best young people

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Friday handed over the 2012 Municipal Awards for Youth in science, technology, literature and arts, Info-Prim Neo reports. The awards in literature and arts went to writer Marcel Gherman, singer and composer Valentin Boghean, actress of the State Russian Dramatic Theater “A.P. Cehov” Iana Lazar, and a group of students of the Faculty of Actors, Theater and Cinema of the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts – Stefan Bouros, Elena Mocanu, and Dan Melnic. In science and technology, there were awarded Doctor of Technology Igor Besleaga, Doctor of Philology Adela Manolii, Doctor of Physical-Mathematical Sciences Galina Rusu, Doctor of Sociology Anastasia Oceretnyi, scientific researcher Irina Sfecla, and Doctor of Medicine Lia Chislari. A special award was presented to the young actors of Satiricus “Ion Luca Caragiale” Theater. There were also awarded encouragement prizes. The top prizes and the special prize are worth 10,000 lei, while the encouragement prize is worth 2,000 lei. The deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Valentina Cujba said the presentation of the Municipal Awards for Youth became a tradition. “I think this support is important as the young people should feel that they are needed at home. This is an important moment for the future of these people,” she stated. The contest was launched in 1996 and is organized by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport.
