The Chisinau Urban Bus Company will receive almost 70 million lei for buying buses. The authorities are considering a number of offers, IPN reports.
Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that among the examined possibilities are to purchase second-hand buses that are in a good state, to concede the service to a company that will come with new buses, and to rent buses.
The Chisinau Urban Bus Company’s administration received offers from a Chinese company to buy new buses at the price of €50,000 a unit. A project to rent buses is at the pilot stage. No concession offer has been made yet.
About 15 of the 96 buses running on routes in Chisinau break up daily and must be repaired. According to the local authorities, the city needs 225 buses.
