The local authorities of Chisinau last year allocated 1 million lei for offering free dental prostheses to 420 persons, including 168 pensioners.
Sofia Zubic, head of the General Social Assistance Division’s Homecare Section, has told Info-Prim Neo that a person can benefit from a free denture after bringing a certificate from the dentist and writing an application.
Every district division of Chisinau compiles a list of persons who need dental prostheses and presents it to the General Social Assistance Division, which decides how many certificates for free artificial teeth to offer.
Among the recipients of dental prostheses can be pensioners, labor and war veterans, invalids, and participants in the Chernobyl cleanup. A person can get only one certificate for free denture.
Health Division specialist Silvia Terna said the certificate for free dental prostheses enables a person to do dental therapy, surgery and prostheses to the value of 2,300-2,400 lei.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, private dentist’s offices workings in Chisinau said that an artificial tooth costs 1,288-2,000 lei.
The certificates for free dentures are provided according to the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council concerning free dental prostheses for socially disadvantaged categories of 2005.
