Municipal Merit Stipends 2006 to be offered at Day of Chisinau

The City Hall of Chisinau will offer on Saturday, September 14, the Municipal Merit Stipends for 2006, amounting to MDL 1000, for 200 students, sportsmen and aged persons for excellent successes in the field of science, medicine, culture, arts and sports. In this way, for the pre-higher education institutions will be offered 95 stipends, for sport schools – 40 stipends, for schools, lyceums and art colleges – 33 stipends, for the winners of the Festival for the children gifted in music “Red. Yellow. Blue” – 12 stipends. Another 20 stipends will be offered to aged persons. The stipends are offered within the frameworks of the celebrations destined to the Day of Chisinau. That MDL 200 thousand that are necessary for covering the stipends are allocated from the Reserve Fund of the Municipality of Chisinau. The merit stipends are offered by the City Hall since 1996. Initially, 10 stipends amounting to MDL 100 monthly were offered. Last year, 182 stipends to the total value of MDL 210 thousand were offered. During 10 years, the City Hall allocated for the merit stipends about MDL 1.3 mln. For the aged persons, the expenses of the City Hall for the merit stipends, starting 1999, constituted MDL 148 thousand.
