In 2018, the municipal enterprises and the division of the Chisinau Municipal Council will conduct public tenders via the electronic system Mtender. This concerns only small tenders, under 80,000 lei. The idea was put forward by the Socialists, IPN reports.
“The biggest problem with public tenders in the city is the lack of transparency. This is a big problem for the City Hall, because lots of public money are swindled via shady schemes”, argued PSRM councilor Petru Burduja.
The initiative was approved with 28 votes in favor and 18 against.
The new rule will come into effect on February 15. In the initial project, the date was January 1, but the municipal councilors decided to delay it in order to have time for the necessary procedures.
