Information panels will be installed in Chișinău parks. The panels will hold information regarding possible sanctions for illegal garbage dumping. In a Chișinău City Hall press release, the municipality informs citizens that regulation endowing municipal district agents with additional powers is being drafted. According to the document, officials will patrol and monitor the streets daily and, if necessary, will be equipped with video surveillance cameras.
The future regulation will expressly list situations which are punishable. "It is very difficult to provide evidentiary support and to prove that a certain person dumped rubbish in an inappropriate places. We might create mixed teams of police officers and district agents. We intend to equip them similarly to police officers", deputy mayor Ilie Ceban was quoted as saying in the press release.
Chișinău Regulation on sanitation and cleaning provides fines from 900 to 1800 lei or unpaid community service from 20 to 60 hours, for individuals who dumped garbage in inappropriate places. The fine for legal persons ranges from 3000 to 9000 lei.
