Municipal councillors will try again to approve Chisinau budget for next year on December 4

The municipal councillors will make a new attempt to adopt the local budget for 2008 in first reading. The Chisinau Municipal Council will come together for a new meeting on December 4. Also, the councillors are set to approve the charge on the heat supplied by Termocom SA and examine 31 draft decisions concerning land lease and 45 draft decisions regarding the privatisation of the plots of land located near private facilities. On November 22, the municipal coalition was three votes short to adopt the budget of Chisinau municipality for the next year in first reading. Eleven councillors of the Liberal faction, five of the Social-Democratic faction, six of the Moldova Noastra Alliance and one Liberal-Democratic councillor voted in favour of the budget. The PCRM faction voted against. Two representatives of the Humanist Party, the councillor that represented the National Liberal Party Mihai Severovan and the representative of the Social-Political Movement “Ravnopravie” Valeri Klimenco abstained. The CMC chairman expressed his confidence that the draft budget will be adopted at a new meeting. “We will approve the budget the next time, with or without the support of the Opposition councillors,” said Mihai Ghimpu. The budget must be adopted by December 10, 2007.
