Several Municipal Councillors urge their colleagues in the Chisinau Municipal Council who voted for the dismissal of former “Antena C” director to pay from their own pockets the average wage Vasile State should have received during his forced leave, as well as his court expenses, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vasile State, the director of the municipal radio station “Antena C” was restored to his office on March 23. The Court of Appeals found that the decision of the CMC to dismiss State has been illegal, and ordered its cancellation. Also, State should be given the average wage he did not receive during his leave and the court-related expenses. On March 26, interim mayor Veacslav Iordan issued an ordinance to enforce the judgement. According to the ordinance, the sum of almost MDL 19 thousand will be taken from the municipal budget. Eight Municipal Councillors asked Iordan to initiate legal recourse against the authors of the illegality to recoup the public money. One of the leaders of “Social Action” Bloc (SAB) Mihai Roscovan made the interpellation public at Tuesday’s CMC meeting. According to Roscovan, the signatories of the interpellation against the dismissal decision of 14December 2006 warned about the fact that this illegality will generate big losses. Moreover, Roscovan says that the authors of this initiative, “the head and shame of the Christian-democrats in Chisinau, Alexandru Corduneanu”, as well as the councillors which voted are fully responsible in this case, including materially. “In a democratic state, the abuses and illegalities of the administration are not paid with public money”, Roscovan says. Those eight councillors insisted that Iordan or the Legal Department present information about all CMC decisions and orders of the interim mayor which had been disputed in court, as well as the sums of money the persons ask for the damages they considered were committed through these administrative documents or different refusals to solve the requests of the citizens, and the cases against the municipal authorities that are examined at ECHR. The idea of making amends to State from own pockets of the communist and Christian-democrat councillors was also supported by the head of the Social-Political Movement “Ravnopravie”, Valeri Climenco. According to the cited source, the municipal budget should be in the service of the population, which was sunk into poverty by the communist regime, for the payment of pensions and meals of the disadvantaged families, not for settling the errors premeditatedly made by the communists and Christian-Democrats. “The voters should know who are the persons stealing their money”, Climenco emphasised. Vasile State, together with the director of “Euro TV Chisinau”, Arcadie Gherasim was dismissed on December 14 at the same meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council when it was decided to organise an investment contest for the sale of the two institutions. The directors of the stations were dismissed due to the votes of the communist and Christian-Democrat councillors, at the proposals of PCDP’s leader Alexandru Corduneanu, who was appointed as deputy-mayor of Chisinau shortly after these decisions. The decision on the sale of the institution was also disputed in court by the staffers of the stations.
