Municipal councillor proposes extending timetable of buses and trolleybuses

Eugen Baleca, municipal councilman of the Communist faction, suggests extending the timetable of the buses and trolleybuses. At Thursday’s extraordinary meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Eugen Baleca said that such a measure is necessary because the people working on the night shift find it difficult to go home from work. Currently, the municipal transport works until about 23.00, but the second shift closes at this hour and the people do not manage to get onto the last bus or trolleybus, the councillor said. Baleca also said that such a decision will be appropriate if taking into account the fact that the electric power at night is two times cheaper than during the day. In another development, the councillor of the AMN faction Oleg Cernei said that the City Hall should decide on the future of the minibuses. He reminded that the contracts signed with the minibus route administrators expired this July and they should make a decision whether to sign contracts with the route administrators or with each minibus owner apart. As regards the decision to oblige the minibuses stop in stations only, taken at a meeting held by the mayor general, Oleg Cernei said that this decision must apply only to the streets where there are stops. 80% of the minibuses travel along streets with no stations, the AMN councillor said.
