Municipal Council will debate Chisinau’s budget for 2007 in second reading on Tuesday

Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will discuss Tuesday, December 26, the 2007 Budget of Chisinau municipality in the second reading. Interim mayor Vasile Ursu announced that besides this item municipal councillors will also debate many financial items that “are in a very large number” at the Land Division. In the first reading, Chisinau’s 2007 Budget was examined and voted by CMC later in November. At that date, as for the incomes, the budget for the next year was approved in the amount of about 1.273 mln lei, registering a 3.6% increase, compared to the indexes in this year. As regards the expenses, they were estimated at 1.292 bln lei, increasing by 3.1%. The municipality’s budgetary deficit for the coming year is planed to the value of about 19.1 mln lei. To increase the budgetary proceeds as concerns the incomes, CMC ordered to create a special commission that will work out an action plan in this respect. The capital investments, included in the budget for next year, total 87 mln lei. Municipal Council permitted according to the general mayor’s order to delegate functions of beneficiary to the suburban headman’s offices, with a view to performing repair and reconstruction works at the buildings that belong to the institutions funded by local budgets, if their cost does not exceed 1 million lei. The same permission is also available for education, youth and sports Divisions in the districts. The councillors have backed these initiatives for the reason that the capital constructions Division does not manage to perform these works.
