The Chisinau Municipal Council will examine on Thursday, January 18, the increase in tariffs for water and sewerage, and also the cost of a G-calorie. The price of 1 cu m of water and 1 of waste water, requested by Chisinau’s water supplier “Apa-Canal” (ACC), is of 6.5 lei for individuals, 16.26 lei for economic entities, state budget-funded institutions and businesspersons, and 8.64 lei for consumers of industrial water. ACC director Constantin Becciev says it is for the first time when a single tariff for tap water for all categories of consumers will be introduced – 6.03 lei. At present, 11 categories of citizens, meaning about 42 thousand persons, are granted compensations for water and sewage bills. ACC director says that, once the prices will go up, the amount of the compensations will be increased too, from 5 to 16 lei for those who are granted a 25% cut, and from 9 to 29 lei for a 50% cut. The Chisinau Municipal Council is due to examine in its Thursday session the price of a G-calorie, from 233 to 540.82 lei. According to the draft decision, individuals will pay 233 lei as before. The difference of 307.82 will be covered by the municipal budget. The City Hall will ask the Government to cover a part of the expenses from the State budget. The new tariffs will be valid as from February 1.
