The capital’s authorities evaluate the situation of the residential blocks that gone over their exploitation date. Those who present risks for people’s lives will be demolished, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to Radu Blaj, head of General Department of Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations, part of the blocks in Chisinau have gone over their exploitation deadline, but are being renovated and strengthened through the building of lofts. The exploitation term for the latter is extended based on the specialists’ investigation reports. “Specialists have analyzed the states of these blocks, and have concluded that lofts do not affect the foundations, which allows for the extensions of the exploitation term. But we also have many blocks that were built during the Soviet period, which don’t allow the construction of lofts or any other fortification works, and they will be demolished”, stated Radu Blaj. The Municipality aims to start a project in the future, in collaboration with central authorities, through which the residents of the to-be-demolished blocks would receive other apartments instead.
