The number of children and teens affected by mumps has dropped in the Chisinau municipality this week. Specialists point out the figure is down by 64 %, Info-Prim Neo reports. Constantin Manic, a hygienist physician at Chisinau’s education, Youth and Sports General Direction, told a sitting of the Direction on Friday, April 4, that the number of people infected with mumps dropped from 185 to 83. Now the campaign of immunizing children, youths and grownups is in full swing. Teams of doctors work in the district of the municipality. Out of 130,000 pupils and adolescents, 68,264 have already got the vaccines -- 52% of the total to be immunized. According the Education Direction specialist, the campaign is planned to end next week. Constantin Manic says only one case of tuberculosis has been registered for the last two weeks. The infected was traced out in school 80 from Stauceni town, as the case is investigated by the Preventive Medicine Center.
