Moldova is close to European values through its diversity and multiculturalism, through tolerance for the culture of all the ethnic groups within its territory, and through respect for the universal European values, stated Ana Maria Luft, the Embassy of Poland's culture and promotion officer and also the wife of the Polish Ambassador.
At the same time, Ana Maria Luft noted that the Moldovans should demonstrate more respect for justice and for the necessary reforms, and the local authorities should work better. “This is not very difficult to achieve, all you need is will. If the Moldovans are willing to be part of the EU, someday eventually, in the not so distant future, Moldova will certainly be a member, and if it needs the assistance and support of the EU members, in particular Poland, Moldova can always count on it”, assured Ana Maria Luft.
She said that the Polish Embassy is promoting the European message in multiple ways, including by organizing cultural and political events and by fostering relations with the media. Moreover, the Polish Embassy started celebrating Europe Days earlier: a concert was given in Chisinau to mark the Polish Constitution Day on May 3; also, an exhibition of cartoons was held. “Today, May 12, in Chisinau, and then in Comrat on May 19, we will have a Polish tent in the European Village. This year no food will be served, but it will be very colorful, with plenty of balloons and information on Poland, and with a Euro 2012 presentation”.
Ambassador Bogumil Luft will participate in the political debates held in the European Village, as an ensemble of Polish dancers in folk costumes will perform on stage in the Great National Assembly square. Also, a Polish teacher will offer Polish language courses.
Outside the Europe Days, the Polish Embassy plans a number of remarkable events throughout the year, including a piano concert and a symphonic concert in open air in August.
Europe Days in Moldova are celebrated this year in Chisinau and Comrat during May 12-19. The events are organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova and sponsored by Sudzucker, Orange, Agroindbank Moldova and Flor Art.
