The lawmakers will be able to move to the renovated Parliament Building by the end of this year if the necessary amounts of money are allocated and the financing terms are respected, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction Anatolie Zolotcov said during a visit to the building site on April 6. However, he could not say how much money is needed, arguing the expenditure estimates must be reviewed, IPN reports.

According to the deputy minister, since the last visit paid to the building site in December, the floor has been covered with granite and the posts in the hall have been renovated. Stairs were built up to the third floor and were covered with granite and marble. The water and sewerage systems were set up. There were carried out telecommunications works.

”The areas in front and behind the Parliament Building are yet to be laid out. The works to repair the roof are to be completed. All the necessary works were performed in the meeting hall and we are ready to install the furniture,” said Anatolie Zolotcov.

The repair works are 70% ready. A sum of 200 million lei was to be allocated initially, but there was transferred only 121 million lei.

The Parliament Building was destroyed during the April 7, 2009 protests. The repair works were stopped in 2010 owing to the shortage of funds, but were resumed last August.
