As many as 54 lawmakers from all the groups were absent from the special sitting of Parliament, where the MPs were to vote the government program and the governmental team proposed by candidate for premiership Ion Sturza. The sitting failed because a quorum was not present, IPN reports.

All the Liberal-Democratic MPs were present, except for Vlad Filat, who is under arrest. Three MPs were absent from the Liberal group, namely Alina Zotea, Iurie Darda and Artur Gutium. After the sitting failed to take place, the group’s leader Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberals wouldn’t have voted for Ion Sturza’s team because its composition wasn’t the one discussed earlier with the former candidate.

Valentina Buliga, Valentin Andronachi, Elena Bacalu, Constantin Botnari, Eugeniu Nichiforciuc and Corneliu Padnevich were absent from Democratic group, which earlier refused to have a meeting with the candidate nominated for Prime Minister.

The 24 MPs of the Party of Socialists, the seven Communists who remained in the group after its split and the 14 lawmakers who left the Party of Communists and formed the Social-Democratic Platform in Parliament didn’t come to the sitting.
