Parliament adopted in the first residing a bill to raise the childbirth allowance, to institute a new type of allowance and to extend the period during which the monthly child benefit is provided to socially uninsured persons, IPN reports.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Viorica Dumbraveanu said in Parliament that the single childbirth allowance will be equal to the money value of the minimum basket of necessary things, which is now 5,300 lei. Thus, the childbirth allowance will be standardized and raised by 2,200 on the birth of the first child and by 1,900 lei on the birth of each next child as of next year.
Under the bill, the period during which the monthly child benefit is provided to socially uninsured persons will be extended by six months, until the child reaches two.
The bill institutes a new type of allowance for raising twins or more children born to the same mother at the same time up to the age of three. This will be 270 lei a month for each child.
The children who remained temporarily without parental care and were placed under guardianship will be entitled to a monthly benefit.
